The comprehensive redevelopment of St. John’s House includes:

Demolition of the existing return to maintain the street frontage and provide area for new construction behind

Retention and the reorganisation of the front part of St. John’s House along the Merrion Road

Construction of a new three storey development at the rear to increase the number of residents from the current level of 45 beds to 56
The new building will provide:

53 purpose built bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms (50 single and 3 double)

All bedrooms will be on the upper floors so they will be secure and benefit from better light and views

Dining rooms and living rooms as well as a number of quiet rooms and activity rooms will be located throughout the building

Hairdressing and therapy rooms will be located on the ground floor

A dedicated medical suite will be centrally located on the ground floor

A café, with direct access to a secure south facing garden, will be available to residents and visitors

The concourse will open onto a secure cloister garden with the chapel as a central feature where residents can enjoy the open area in a sheltered and secure space

A large roof terrace at first floor level will provide a sheltered outdoor space that overlooks the landscaped chapel garden
